How to Clean Glassware for the Laboratory

Clean the beakers used in the Biological Cleaning of Coverslips and Slides protocol in the following manner.

  1. Fill a plastic dishpan with hot tap water.
  2. Add _ capful of liquid concentrate soap for biological cleaning.
  3. Add the glassware and let it soak for 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse each item 10 times with tap water.
  5. Rinse each item 10 times with de-ionized water.
  6. Rinse each item 5 times with filtered de-ionized water. (This may also be called "double de-ionized water".)
  7. Place the glassware in the drying rack and cover with lint-free Kimwipes or similar material to keep dust off. Store and cover with Parafilm when dry in a closed cabinet.
